The Farm
The land-based business heart of The Joyful Shelter.
On 40 acres in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, we're learning to live a little closer to the earth—raising animals, growing food, tending the land, and slowly building a place rooted in community, sustainability, and a simpler way of living.
Rooted Here. Growing Outward.
The Joyful Shelter LLC is already taking root—both online and in our local community. You can currently find us online with Ramani leading Yoga Nidra and other spiritual classes, or in person at BeWell in Marquette, offering yoga, meditation, sound healing, and other practices for rest, connection, and well-being.
Beginning Spring & Summer 2027, we're bringing more of The Joyful Shelter to the land. Look for us at local farmers markets with fresh and dried herbs, herbal creations, homemade breads, farm-fresh eggs, and potentially cacao and tea offerings. We also hope to open a small farm stand right here on the property.
And we're working toward creating dedicated outdoor space where people can come practice goat yoga on the farm—because apparently our vision of spiritual awakening also includes being climbed on by goats. 😂
We're starting small, growing intentionally, and letting The Joyful Shelter become something you can experience both on and off the land.
Building Something Different
We're still at the beginning. Our little farm is home to goats, chickens, gardens, and plenty of projects still waiting to be dreamed into existence.
We're interested in regenerative growing, food sovereignty, animal stewardship, traditional skills, and learning what it means to work with the land rather than simply live on it.
Some things we know. A lot we're learning as we go. And that's part of the adventure.
Life on the Land
Goats • chickens • eggs • gardens • barns • wildflowers • woods • harvesting • projects • seasons • family • baby animals • beautiful messes
This isn't a finished farm we're presenting to you. It's a living place we're growing—and we'll share the becoming as we go.
Come Grow With Us
We don't want to build The Joyful Shelter and then invite community into it. We want community to help us build it.
Beginning next summer, we hope to create more opportunities for people to come work, learn, build, plant, tend animals, share skills, eat together, and help this land flourish.
Can't come to Michigan? There are other ways to help, too. Tools, building materials, farm equipment, garden supplies, tents, yoga mats, trailers—and sometimes even animals needing the right home—may all have a place here.
Have something to teach, something to give, or simply feel called to be part of it? We'd love to hear from you.
